Dr. Mieka Smart is an assistant professor in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University, with appointments in the Division of Public Health and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She earned a BA in public health and then an MHS and a DrPH in mental health at Johns Hopkins University.
Her research interests include the prevention of mental illness and the use of systematic observations to monitor and evaluate public health policy interventions. She uses spatial and time series data analysis methods to understand the predictors and correlate of drug and alcohol problems.
